The Brief:

Our alliance required a merger and acquisition programme, bringing Glenigan from Asciential into the Byggfakta Group. Our client had a pressing need to extract a business from one corporate entity and merge it into another, including all systems and processes. There was a legally binding time constraint on the completion of the project and an imperative to have zero impact on business performance or customer experience at any point. Additionally, we were tasked with finding any processes improvements and efficiencies as we brought the businesses together.

Response & Delivery:

nordstar* worked with a broad group of stakeholders in each of the businesses from board to the teams in each of the business divisions. We analysed the business models and identified areas of commonality for 'quick wins' and for trickier areas, structured a programme of work and governance to manage the projects. We achieved this by using agile project management principles, with the focus on continuous collaboration through clear communication and then building in room to adapt to changing circumstances by measuring the project process against the goals, adjusting accordingly.

The Impact:

We delivered the project six weeks ahead of time and 19% under the stated budget. This was achieved in three ways: firstly by reducing the term of the project and so reducing the money spent on resources to run and manage the project. Secondly related to reducing the scope of the ongoing data migration project which still delivered the outcomes expected but by focusing on the outcomes this was possible without spending all of the original budget. The final way was by procuring the right solutions to replace the services previously supplied by the previous owning group.
